Wanted: Ghostbusting Bride

Wanted: Ghost busting Bride Margaret Breashears & Donna Helmedag

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome. Have a seat, grab a cup of coffee and let me tell you about this exciting tale, of a whirl wind romance Haunted by medaling ancestor’s hell bent to make people bend to their will.

This Modern day romance, mixed with regal London debutants, with a twist of paranormal interjections. Makes this story jump off the page at every turn. It’s a change of pace for the ordinary romance lover! The question that I struggled with, “what would you do to save your Family?” for our main characters having to Marry but not just to save Ryne Castle, its people, and inevitably Spencer Markham the Castles Lord. Whose soul responsibility to take the orders of his 500 year old ancestor the Lady Anne. Whose Emerald haunting has delegated him to marry the Sassy, Scientific, Career oriented, American, Kailyn Baker. When two Ancient entities are fighting for the rights to the heir of the Ryne, and it’s lost treasure. Spencer, a man who never believed he would love anyone but himself, must convince Kailyn that the castle is not only haunted, but she is the one hand picked by Lady Anne for him to Marry, so that Ryne can prosper. She is ready to submit him for bedlam! Fighting off the Ancient Lady Anne’s nemesis Desdemona will be the easy task compared to making Kailyn fall in love with him.

Kailyn Baker takes to London to interview for a position in the prestigious Markham and Martin. Happy to be on her way to a comfy life in Dallas. Marriage was not on the horizon. Till she is thrown into a weeklong interview and festivities to prove to the Tall, dark, Handsome, and possibly certifiable Spencer Markham that his castle is NOT haunted, she is NOT his intended, and she will not marry him. She is thrown to the wolves in the 18th century costumes. Where she makes few friends and more enemies then she cares to have tea with. Kailyn finds Markham’s charm too much to deny, Will she be able to make him trust her? Can she accept a Marriage where is she sure he will leave as soon as the vows are read?

This was a Delightful tale! I thoroughly enjoyed this read! I didn’t fall as hard as I would have liked too for Spencer but I can’t help but love a driven man! As Always the heroin is my favorite Kailyn made a hard attempt to keep her sanity in check in the mist of the frills and side saddle horseback riding. And still fights in the end, the paranormal twists in this book make it much more than a normal romance and I Love that! Most times “Paranormal” means vampires and don’t get me wrong I LOVE ME A GOOD Blood sucking read! But this was a new fresh breath of air! And much needed! I think the authors not only win in my book for being Texans! But for enchanting the lovely Spencer Markham with the ever realist Kailyn Baker! I give this a Strong 7 out of 10! But for no other reason than I prefer a little more Lovin!

As always thank you, and Happy Reading!

Beyond the Highland Mist Review

Beyond the Highland Mist by KarenMarie Moning

WELL, welcome to the 2nd of my reviews. And if you’re just joining us, WELCOME to you too!

To start this one off, there might be more than one spoiler alert, BUT It will all be worth it if you just read this series. It’s the 1st book ofthe Highlander series. And Ohhhhh EMMMM GEEEEE! I hope you have some ice water close to you when you pick up this steamy piece of heaven.

My Favorite quote from the book ALL TOGETHER is “he is sex in a bottle, uncorked.”That alone should tell you something of its magnitude! Adriane is a strong willed (much stronger than even I), determined woman; YES even when I didn’t want to her to be. I found myself very torn at the beginning of this read because I wanted to her to stay strong, hold her ground, and stand up for broken hearts every where. On the other hand, I wanted her to just plunge head first into the arms of the kilt wearing Hawk, full on, head over ass, butt crazy in love.

OBVIOUSLY this didn’t happen the way that I was screaming for it to. And I do mean SCREAMING at the top of my lungs, at 2 in the morning, at this book. Lol! But with that, said I’ve fallen in love with the man that is The Hawk. For a strong willed woman to want to succumb to a man so badly that it takes every ounce of every part of her being to say no sometimes… WHEW it takes my breath away. With him trying so hard to woo her, to “tame” his Bride, ICE CHIPS are going to be needed! I was ready to give in right when she met him.

As far as what they overcome to be together and stay together, it will turn you for a loop. So buckle your seat belts, and keep your arms and legs inside, because this book will take you on a roller costar ride right up to the bitter end. This is the perfect blend of more than one time and space, all rolled into a magnificent once-upon-a-time, and dropped into a what-had-happened kind of story line.

This is at LEAST an 8 on a scale of 1-10. Love it! The only reason I even give it an 8 is because the beginning is a little slow, and she pissed me off by being so stubborn.Hahaha!

As always Much Love,
J.

Thirteen Reasons Why Review

Good afternoon. Here it is: my VERY 1st book review. SO EXCITING!!!!

Thanks to my wonderful friend for telling me about this great read, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, who I didn't learn is a Man until the end of the book. I was surprised by how well he wrote a girl, in high school girl nonetheless!

Thirteen Reasons Why by: Jay Asher

This book was an Amazing read! I’m going to try very hard not to give too much away, so bare with me!

This is a very coming-of-age story, without the protagonist ever really coming of age. Hannah Baker is now one of my favorite activists for “do the right thing,” not that most people need it. She saw the world for what it was and how it could have been, or even should have been. And, even though her story was told through the ever loving Clay’s eyes, she was able to make her point.

People are not necessarily what they seem. Trusting people can be so hard, even more so when they will turn on you at the drop of a hat, for something they heard or over a rumor. This book has such strong emotions in it, and so much angst, love, and sadness – overwhelming sadness.

I’ve been told that I get too attached to fictional characters. And you know what? I do. In the same instance, if Hannah Baker had done the same thing to me – made me a part of her bigger picture, and not in a nice light – I think I would have run away and joined the Peace Corps. I’d spend weekends in a soup kitchen, trying to grab as many karma points as I could, so that in the end, and on Judgment Day, while standing in front of God (or whomever you might pray to), he might look past the fact that I was so rotten to someone who just wanted a second chance, a new start, and a clean slate. If I had turned on her; I had let her do this too herself.

This entire book is an emotional roller coaster. It will have you flipping pages WELL into the wee hours of the morning, just to see how, and who the story comes to next. It teaches why, sometimes, all you can do is give someone their second chance.

*SPOILER ALERT*

At one point in this story, I became very upset, pissed off even. Because I thought Hannah was selfish, and I found myself asking why in the world she couldn’t just get over it. Let it go, and move on. Then, the more I read, the more I noticed that she did try. Every chance she got, she tried to move on and get over it, to let it go. But it just wouldn’t stop. Her world just wouldn’t stop.

As any one person might tell you, life, love, friends – none of this is easy. Suicide is a REAL THING. It happens every day, to people all around the world. And it is 100% avoidable. You just have to look for the signs. And I feel, this was a GREAT way for them to be brought to light; not only for those who have these feelings, but for those who might be in a position to actually see the signs. It might give them the chance to help. It’s something that is so often not spoken of in schools, because it’s too “taboo” and people don’t like to dive into such hard subjects, but it’s something that needs to be dealt with. I’m glad that Jay Asher took the road less traveled, and brought this forward, so that maybe, just maybe, no one will be left feeling in the dark again.

I give this a STRONG READ rating, and would tell anyone to give it a go! :)

Very Best, J.
